As a teacher of Astrology, I have come to find over the years many distinctions between how ‘newbie’ Astrologers understand the stars, versus how those that have been at it a while understand them. So today, I thought I would give you the scoop on what gives away the green-ness of your astrological studies… …and how to impress even seasoned astrologers with your profound brilliance ;) Here are the 3 main mistakes I see budding Astrologers make over and over again… #1 — That there is only ONE way any given placement can behave. Gemini is ALWAYS gossipy, or Mars is ALWAYS aggressive, or the 12th House is ALWAYS spiritual, just to give a few examples. If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that EVERYTHING, every last Planet, Sign, House, Aspect, Transit (etc) has the potential to be BOTH positive or negative. So if you see a meme or read a horoscope that says something is only going to happen one way, you have my permission to snub your nose at them (in a nice way at least). #2 — That everything in Astrology holds the same level of importance. I have to hold my tongue when I see offers for ‘Dark Moon Lilith Readings’ or ‘Eris Readings’ or any other single factor focus. Because honestly, I feel like new Astrologers who do that are not being very kind to their Clients. No part of the Chart tells the whole story of your life, and niche things like Asteroids and Dwarf Planets really only affect people if a larger Planet pretty tightly conjuncts these tiny objects. But the general public doesn’t know that. So they leave these readings with a feeling like that one Asteroid is THE thing setting the tone for their life… …and it’s definitely not. #3 — They’re not using their Right Brain. SO MANY Astrologers (even professional ones!) skip this all important step, and sadly become dry, boring, know-it-alls because of it. (Ever been to an Astrology convention? While some Astrologers I’ve met at these shindigs are phenomenal, the vast majority remind me of that one uncle that you hope doesn’t corner you into a conversation on Thanksgiving about his new insight on computer engineering. But of course I’m a bit biased in this regard). Astrology, being both a science AND an art requires both the left (logical) AND right (creative) arenas of your brain to fully shine. Without the inclusion of this creative, receptive part, Astrology quickly becomes rigid and righteous. But with it — THEN you really hit the sweet spot of being able to bring the heady details of Astrology into the realm of meaningful inspiration. Find yourself falling into one or more of these categories? No fear! It’s easy enough to fix. All you need to do is widen your perspective, put things in their proper hierarchy of importance, and remember to stay open to the creative flow of the Universe. And, if you’re looking for some guidance in how to do that, my Crash Course or Astrology School are both tailor-made in teaching you exactly those skills. I come from an artist background, and so the way I teach Astrology allows for the creativity of intuition to mix with the heady technical details of this ancient science. Curious? So be kind to yourself and be kind others as we each do our best to become who we’re meant to be. ❤ Veronica
